The Melbourne Colonial Dancers hold two Balls each year on a Saturday Night from 8 p.m. until 12.30 am (usually) at the end of June and November.

In recent years having a theme for a ball has been very successful. Not only are the dancers able to dress up according to the theme but there is an enthusiastic team that works on the decorations. The dance program, and sometimes even the food served, are all designed to reflect the theme.

The most recent of these has been a Pirate Ball in July 2008 click here to see photos from that Ball

Other themes used for the Winter Ball have been “Winter Solstice”, “Moulin Rouge”, “Roaring Twenties/House of Eliott”; “Venetian Carnevale”, "Celtic" and “Gothic”.

By the time the Celtic Ball was held the enthusiasm had hit fever pitch. The ball was a sell out and click here to see photos from the Celtic Ball in June 2006

In November there is a Colonial Ball that may also have a theme that commemorates the anniversary of a certain event. In 2004 the theme was "The Eureka Stockade". 2006 was the centenary of the first full length feature movie "The Story of the Kelly Gang". Click here to see the photos from that Ball
