Young People Meet

These photos were taken at the ball held at Preston Town Hall on November 25th. This ball commemorated the centenary of the world's first full length feature movie "The Story of the Kelly Gang".

The leading actor in that movie was John James Alexander Forde. Some of his descendants were seated at the table alongside at the ball.

David (grandson), Bill (Mary's husband), Mary (daughter), Leanne and Christine (both granddaughters) and Joy (David's wife).

Judy (on the left) gave everyone a ticket as they arrived, and for about five minutes during supper the Harvest Moon band and their guest musicians got off the stage and we looked at an excerpt of the 1906 movie.

Margot (on the left) took a lot of these photos. Dale and Phillipa (above) enjoyed the ball. Dale did a lot of the technical work on the 1906 film.

ABOVE: It's a longways set. "Right Hand Star" says the caller. The top couple misses out at this point, but as shown (above left) they do get their turn!

In the meantime, Bert at the left (who was on his best behaviour for the whole night) enjoys watching it all.

Julian and Noi. Ready to dance!

Dancers getting themselves organised in a longways set.

It's the camera that is a tad lopsided. Not Heather and Brett!

Young Matt shows Coral the right way to do the dance.

ABOVE: Judy and John doing the Palma waltz.

RIGHT: Frank, Margaret and their daughter Kathy.

LEFT: Ken and Julia at the end of the evening.

ABOVE: Eva and Vasek came along with regular dancers John and Marion.

Val thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Peter the Functions co-ordinator at the ball after leading another super effort.

Wall decorations.

ABOVE: The Learned Judge. Garry was also Master of Ceremonies for the night.

Stage decorations.

Michael and Coral (above) line up for a dance while Cecily (between the two of them) joins in. In another part of the hall Wendy (on the left) prepares to dance.

Robin on the left calls a dance, while Betty and Bev (above) sit this one out.

Malgorzata and Michael enjoyed the previous dance.

Malgorzata's parents also came to the ball. Here they are with a couple of pirates who turned up late in the night.
